NMsphere Learning Management System (LMS)

The NMsphere Learning Management System, or LMS, is exactly what it sounds like -- a specialized software system for managing learning.  In our system this learning is directed to health emergency prevention, detection, preparedness, response and recovery training in New Mexico.

When you set up an “account” with NMsphere LMS, the system creates your private Home Page. From your Home Page you can search the Course Catalog, register for live classroom or web-based trainings, and review all of your training activities. The NMsphere LMS allows you to create, document, and track all trainings, and even recommends training that can support your role.

Benefits of the NMsphere LMS

First, think of the NMsphere LMS as a centralized location where you can discover new training and development opportunities, keep all your training information current, and access it via the Internet whenever you want. It’s a remarkable tool that allows you to search for training as well as plan, schedule, and track all training and development activities (even those you’ve taken elsewhere). You can print reports of your activities if you need them for your job or volunteer roles. What could be more convenient?

Second, the LMS acts as a platform from which you can launch self-paced Web-based courses, day or night, whenever is most convenient for you. The system tracks your progress through courses, stores your scores, and automatically places a bookmark in each course if you exit before finishing, so you can return later. Some courses will test your knowledge before you begin and will automatically turn off modules covering material that you’ve already mastered, keeping you from spending unnecessary time in the course.

The third major benefit of the LMS is that it provides accurate statistical data about public health emergency preparedness and response training across the state. This data can be reported back to the various grantor organizations, and will help ensure that New Mexico continues to receive much needed Federal funds to support state response and preparedness efforts.
